Comments: Hey. I started out with the musical, then got around to reading the book, and I love Grantaire. He should get some of that sympathy people are always directing towards Eponine (I like her too, but come on. She is not that great.) Plus, he reminds me of Nicki, from The Vampire Lestat (though it was written over a hundred years after Les Mis). I think I have a thing for doomed cynics. And slash. I love him in the musical as well- "Is your life just one more lie?" Ow. Not to metion he is the only one not reminiscing about getting laid.

Comments: I'm about to play Grantaire in a Past Students' Production of Les Miserables at The King's School, Parramatta in Sydney, Australia where I teach French. I read today that the battle in which Grantiare and the students died took place exactly 175 years to the day before our opening performance.
